I have registered my details on the website. What happens next?
You can login to the Street Smart Energy site and check out the different buying pools. Choose your preferred buying pool, pay the small administration fee and start saving on your electricity rates.

If I sign up with Street Smart Energy, what happens to my contract with my current electricity supplier?
Your existing agreement or connection does not change initially; your existing electricity supplier will stay the same until you make a decision based on the options that Street Smart Energy negotiates for you. Your existing agreement could either be adjusted or you might have the opportunity to move to another supplier with improved rates. Please note Street Smart Energy is not a supplier of electricity; we simply create a buying pool of energy consumers and negotiate for you using a bulk buying approach. The larger our buying pool, the better the discounts we can achieve, so we ask that you encourage your family, friends and neighbours to consider Street Smart Energy – as the pool grows, everyone benefits.

What is the minimum contract period I must sign up to?
There is no minimum contract period. We are offering diverse options - different time periods will achieve different levels of savings. Retailers will have higher rewards for longer commitments. You will be presented with several different options, depending upon your circumstances.

Do you guarantee the energy rates paid through Street Smart Energy will be lower than through traditional brokers and energy retailers?
Yes. The size of our buying pool compels the energy retailers to provide us with better rates than individual energy consumers.

How do you guarantee these lower energy rates?
The size of our buying pool is attractive to the major energy retailers, and is what compels them to provide our consumers with better rates.

What happens when more people join? Do my rates decrease on a monthly basis, or is it dependent on my contract term?
The size of our buying pool will be increasing continuously, thereby improving our buying power, and enabling us to continue negotiating lower rates on your behalf.

What happens during the transition period from one suppler to another, will I lose power in my home?
No you will not lose power at any time during the transition period, your supply of electricity will remain constant, it is only your service provider that will change.

I previously received a discount by combining my gas and electricity requirements through one provider. If I go with Street Smart Energy, I will lose that discount.
We believe you will achieve greater savings than the nominal discount provided by the retailers when you combine your electricity and gas.

How can you guarantee your energy supply; who is the electricity ultimately supplied through?
Our tender is open to all providers in Australia. The energy supply will continue to be provided by existing retailers, but at highly competitive rates due to the strength of our group buying pool.
